They are designed and made by hand in the USA with sterling silver ear wires and 100% natural and untreated solid Aspen wood. The wood is sustainably obtained (scroll down for more info) and cut using a laser cutter.

WOOD YOU RATHER: Untreated Aspen wood varies from being almost white to a very pale light yellow, depending on the tree. It's the whitest wood used here at Soot & Cinders. You likely won't see a distinctive grain in it, like you do with woods like Red Oak. As all wood used is solid and natural and not a veneer or particle board, there will be natural variation for each pair of earrings. They are truly one of a kind!

TAKE CARE: Wood can absorb water and warp or swell. Do not wear natural wood earrings in the shower, bath, swimming pool, etc.

DO I SMELL SMOKE? : Because our items are crafted using a burning technique, they may arrive with a faint smoky scent similar to the smell lingering on clothing after a campfire. If you notice this aroma when opening your package, rest assured it will dissipate soon.

ALLERGIES: Untreated wood does not have stains or sealants added to it, making it suitable for many people with chemical sensitivities. Sterling silver is an alloy made of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper or zinc. I cannot make any guarantees as to the exact metal used in a particular sterling silver finding. My cat has occasional access to the workshop where the earrings are made, but rarely takes advantages of it. All efforts are made to keep earrings and packing materials free of any cat-related allergens, but since the workshop is not physically separate from my home I cannot guarantee that the packaging will be 100% allergen-free.
